ACELEHNER

Ace Lehner is an interdisciplinary artist and writer whose work and research explores representation, intimacy and vulnerability often through the media of photography, drawing and performance. Lehner teaches photography at California College of the Arts and the ASUC Art Studio at the University of California at Berkeley and advises Visual Arts thesis students at Oakland School for the Arts. Lehner’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including The Bay Area, New York, NY, London, Montreal Canada and Port Au Prince, Haiti. Her writing has been published in the journal Sightlines, the Bay Citizen, the Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts, and her teaching philosophy was published in conjunction with Identity Shifts an exhibition of student work at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Lehner has given talks about her work, the work of other artists and reviews of exhibitions at institutions including California College of the Arts, The University of San Francisco, Southern Exposure, Solano College, Concordia University and Mills College. This March Lehner will be speaking about her own work and research at the University of California Santa Cruz. Lehner was a recipient of the Murphy and Cadogen Fellowship in the Fine Arts and recently Lehner’s work has appeared in BOOM at Southern Exposure in San Francisco, the Juried Annual at Pro Arts Gallery in Oakland and at PPOW in Chelsea NY. Lehner has an MFA in Fine Arts and an MA in Visual and Critical Studies from California College of the Arts in San Francisco, CA and a BFA with distinction from Concordia University in Montreal Canada.
