Playing with notions of the fabricated and ever fictional objectivity and transparency of today's news media, Box News was a collaborative intervention project designed to sustain moments of wonderring specifically in relation to how we get our news and what people really want to know. The fictional news crew; the Box News team converted an ordinary van into a mobile news vehicle and intercepted various Bay Area locals in an attempt to connect and to open up questions about what some of the major issues and questions are on the minds of the people of the Bar Area.

We want to know what the Bay Area community "wants to know" was the motivating investigation for our project. The work culminated in a day long event in which the Box News Crew interviewed and recorded various interactions with the good public of the Bay Area and invited people to a Soap Box event in Dolores Park where anyone and everyone was welcome to get up on an actual Soap Box and share both what they wanted to know as well as what they knew. Primarilly an exercise in creating a vehicle for social interaction and fosterring grass roots free thinking, failure was also a key player in the project.

The team consisted of Ahna Adaire, Pierro Passacantado, Patrick Gillespie, Nif DiMarco, Sidney Russell, Sam Gould, Torreya Cummings and myself.
