Playing with notions of the fabricated and ever fictional objectivity and transparency of todays media, Box News was a collaborative intervention project designed to sustain moments of questionig in life. The fictional news crew; the Box News team converted an ordinary van into mobile news vehicle and intercepted various Bay Area locals in an attempt to connect with them and to determine what some of the major issues and questions are at the hearts of the people of the Bar Area. We wanted to know what they "want to know." The project culminated in a day long event in which the Box News Crew interviewed and recorded various interactions with the good public of the Bay Area and invited them to a Soap Box event in Dolores Park where anyone and everyone was welcome to get up on a literal Soap Box and share both what they wanted to know as well as what they knew. Primarilly an exercise in creating a vehicle for social interaction and fosterring grass roots free thinking, failure was also a key player in the project. The team consisted of Ahna Adaire, Pierro Passacantado, Patrick Gillespie, Nif DiMarco, Sidney Russell, Sam Gould, Torreya Cummings and myself.
